The top target name on the list was Detective Laura Bennett.
The detective who rescued me from hospital seventy days ago.
My father pointed a finger at her photo on paper.
"She knows too much about our shadow network, Olivia."
"Your first official command assignment is to eliminate her."
My heart froze as I looked into my father's eyes.
Detective Bennett was the only real friend who saved my life.
And my father was testing my willingness to kill allies.
I held the black leather file tightly in hand.
A cold, calculating, lethal smile formed on my lips.
I looked up at my biological father with granite calm.
"Consider it done, Father," I replied in a whisper.
My father laughed warmly, turning toward the open doorway.
He walked out onto the porch, entering his black limousine.
I stood alone in the hallway, looking at phone.
I quickly tapped a secret encrypted text to Detective Bennett:
"Phase two is active. He fell for the trap."
Detective Bennett replied instantly from her tactical squad car:
"Federal units are surrounding his mountain facility right now."
I smiled coldly into the quiet, dark night air.
I had never been his loyal, submissive puppet daughter.
