Jason stumbled backward, his knees knocking together in panic.
"Olivia... you... you are alive?" Jason stammered frantically.
"This is an impossible hallucination! You were sick in bed!"
Detective Bennett stepped forward, pulling out heavy steel handcuffs.
"Jason Carter, you are under arrest for attempted capital murder."
"You are also charged with felony fraud and medical neglect."
Outside on the driveway, emergency police sirens began blaring loudly.
Two police cruisers blocked Jason's parents' car fast today.
Officers pulled Jason's father and mother out of vehicle.
His younger sister screamed hysterically as steel handcuffs clicked shut.
They had helped Jason plan the asset transfer while away.
They were active co-conspirators in the multi-million dollar fraud scheme.
Jason thrashed wildly as Detective Bennett twisted his arm back.
Cold steel ratcheted tightly around his shaking, sweaty wrists.
"Get off me! I am a respected corporate executive!" Jason.
"You are a coward who tried to starve his wife,".
Detective Bennett shoved him forcefully toward the front porch steps.
Dozens of curious suburban neighbors gathered along the sidewalk.
Smartphones flashed continuously as people filmed his dramatic downfall today.
