Federal court froze the Carter Child Trust.
Michael’s attorney argued Olivia was an innocent beneficiary.
She was.
The assets still came from crimes.
The court created an independent receiver and victim compensation structure.
No one asked Olivia to sign.
No one made her responsible for dismantling adult wrongdoing.
Then the trust’s hidden clause activated.
If Olivia was deemed medically incompetent, control transferred to Emma.
If Emma was unavailable, Rose.
If all three were unavailable, Lily.
The closed loop existed legally too.
The children were designed as interchangeable trustees.
The program intended to move power through whichever girl remained controllable.
Rebecca proposed dissolving the trust entirely.
Defense attorneys argued it would destroy funding for children dependent on ongoing care.
A moral trap.
Accept criminal control or harm patients.
The court separated treatment funds from family authority.
Independent hospitals received protected financing.
The trust dissolved.
Children kept care.
Adults lost control.
The solution was slower and more complex than taking everything at once.
That complexity prevented another private ruler.
Then Olivia’s health worsened.
The editing agent triggered autoimmune complications.
Dr. Jenkins recommended an experimental reversal therapy.
It came from Carter research.
Using it risked legitimizing the program.
Refusing could harm Olivia.
The decision belonged to independent physicians, Anna, Olivia’s advocate, and Olivia herself in age-appropriate form.
Olivia asked, “Will it hurt?”
“Yes,” Dr. Jenkins said.
“Will it help?”
“We think it may.”
“Do I have to?”
“No.”
Olivia chose treatment.
Same science.
Different consent.
She improved.
The case showed research itself was not the crime.
Control was.
Then Emma developed a fever.
Tests showed no poison.
A common infection.
Everyone panicked anyway.
Trauma had turned ordinary illness into suspicion.
Dr. Jenkins treated it normally.
No hidden protocol.
Emma recovered.
That experience became another form of healing.
Then the station where the girls first arrived received a package.
Inside was a new oral syringe.

The pharmacy code belonged to a boy named Ethan Carter.
Age seven.
Same birthday as the girls.
Another child of Michael Carter.
