Chapter 10 - The Envelope That Returned My Past

The envelope stayed in my hand.

Heavy.

Not because of its weight.

Because of what it represented.

The sheriff watched me.

“You don’t have to open it.”

I looked at him.

“Yes.”

I did.

But not yet.

First, I needed answers.

The man from the SUV admitted the attack was a test.

They wanted to know if I still had the skills.

If I was still the person they remembered.

I hated that.

Because it meant those men weren’t trying to hurt me randomly.

They were measuring me.

Then the sheriff found something on the attacker’s phone.

A list.

Names.

Locations.

One location stood out.

May you like

Mine.
