Chapter 15 - The Ultimate Cliffhanger

I pulled the satellite phone from my pocket and unlocked screen.
A secure video feed from the European intelligence sector played.
The video showed grainy night-vision footage from three years ago.
It was the exact night of the catastrophic military ambush.
On screen, a figure in a black coat stood near bunker.
The figure handed a metal drive to an unknown contact.
The camera zoomed in on the figure's right wrist area.
A distinctive silver tattoo was visible under the dark sleeve.
A stylized trident emblem with the number seven seven inside.
My heart stopped beating for a fraction of a second.
That tattoo belonged to a secret special operations group unit.
A unit that had only three surviving members in world.
One member was myself, standing on courthouse steps right now.
The second member was General Miller, sitting inside room behind.
And the third member was my younger brother, Ethan Logan.
The brother who had disappeared during combat two years ago.
The brother we believed was killed in action overseas.
A text message flashed across the bottom of video screen:
"Target identified in Virginia woods heading toward your location."
I slowly raised my head and looked across the street.
Parked beneath the shadow of a large oak tree opposite court,
A black sedan sat with its engine idling softly in sun.
The driver's window rolled down two inches in silence.
A hand rested on the door frame wearing a silver trident tattoo.

He turned his face toward me, offering a chilling smile.
My dead brother was alive and standing thirty feet away.
