Chapter 6 - The Forged Signature

Hospital security did not intervene.
Arthur had raised one hand, signaling that no one was in immediate danger.
But several nurses remained close.
Kirsten’s voice stayed level.
“Whose authorization was used?”
Arthur looked directly at Connor.
“Yours and Kirsten’s.”
“I signed nothing,” Kirsten said.
“We know.”
Arthur removed a photocopy from the folder and handed it to her.
Kirsten recognized her name.
The signature beneath it looked almost perfect.
Almost.
But the final stroke curved upward.
Kirsten’s real signature always ended downward.
Connor had watched her sign thousands of insurance forms during their marriage.
He knew how to copy it.
Melinda covered her mouth.
Connor pointed toward the page.
“That proves nothing. Anyone could have written that.”
Walter gave a bitter laugh.
“Anyone didn’t have access to her passport, her medical login and the storage account.”
Connor spun toward him.
“You went through our house?”
“I found the clinic bills in Melinda’s diaper bag.”
Melinda closed her eyes.
Kirsten felt anger rise through the shock.
Not wild anger.
Precise anger.
The kind that remembered every detail.
“You stole my identity,” she said.
Connor’s smug expression vanished.
“I used what belonged to both of us.”
Kirsten stepped closer.
May you like
“My body never belonged to you.”
👉 Connor had finally admitted the embryo was real—but he still believed marriage had given him the right to take it.
