“The embryo transfer occurred twelve days before Connor filed for divorce.”

Kirsten stared at him.

Before the divorce.

While Connor was still legally married to her.

Melinda had been implanted with Kirsten’s embryo while Connor was still sleeping beside Kirsten and pretending they might reconcile.

The betrayal became physical.

Kirsten gripped the edge of the desk.

Connor noticed.

For a moment, his confidence returned.

“You were delaying everything. We had already lost years.”

Kirsten turned slowly.

“So you decided I had lost the right to become a mother?”

“You weren’t ready.”

“I was sick.”

“You always had a reason.”

The sentence landed harder than shouting.

Kirsten remembered undergoing treatment while working full hospital shifts.

She remembered apologizing for fatigue.

Apologizing for pain.

Apologizing for not recovering fast enough.

Melinda began crying.

“I thought you two were separated.”

“We weren’t,” Kirsten said.

Connor pointed toward the toddler.

“Whatever happened, he exists now. You can’t turn him into evidence.”

Kirsten looked at the innocent boy.

“No,” she said softly. “You already did that.”

👉 Connor tried to hide behind the child—but the next record showed his deception had continued after the birth.
