Chapter 12 - The Signature They Hid

The signature was familiar.
Too familiar.
Someone my family trusted.
Someone who had been close enough to influence decisions.
The commander looked at the page.
His expression hardened.
“This explains a lot.”
Jason looked between us.
“I was used.”
I looked at him.
“Yes.”
The truth hurt him.
But it was necessary.
For years, he believed he was above me.
Now he realized he had been a tool.
The commander folded the paper.
“We need to move carefully.”
Because the person behind this was still out there.
Then the ceremony announcer called for everyone to return.
But nobody moved.
Not until the commander looked at me.
“Your decision?”
I looked at my family.
Then at the field.
Then at the folder.
May you like
“I’m done hiding.”
