Chapter 4 - Gillian’s Camera

Gillian believed the confrontation would make her famous.
For years, she had lived in Alana’s shadow without understanding why.
Gillian was prettier, louder, and more comfortable in front of cameras.
Yet Vivian trusted Alana.
At family dinners, Vivian asked Alana about clinical trials and manufacturing ethics.
She asked Gillian about parties.
Gillian pretended not to care.
Privately, she hated it.
When Mark told her Alana was stealing the inheritance, Gillian believed him immediately.
“She manipulated Grandma when she was sick,” he said.
Yasmin added that Alana planned to sell the mansion and cut everyone off.
Gillian’s fear became resentment.
She agreed to film Alana’s “confession.”
The plan was simple.
Mark would pressure Alana to sign.
Yasmin would present the papers.
Gillian would record Alana stating that the transfer was voluntary.
If Alana later challenged it, the video would discredit her.
But Mark’s violence exceeded the plan.
When the bat struck Alana’s injured arm, Gillian almost lowered the phone.
Yasmin gave her a warning look.
So Gillian kept filming.
She captured Mark threatening the other arm.
She captured Yasmin demanding everything.
She captured Mark saying they would call the injury an accident.
Then Alana signed.
Gillian noticed the brooch light.
She had seen that kind of miniature camera before during an influencer security demonstration.
Her stomach dropped.
Alana thanked her for recording.
Gillian’s thumb moved toward the stop button.
The screen no longer responded.
A connection icon appeared.
The video was uploading automatically.
“Dad,” she whispered.
Mark did not hear her.
He was staring at the mansion entrance.
Yasmin grabbed Gillian’s wrist.
“Delete it.”
“I can’t.”
“Then turn off the phone.”
“It’s already sent.”
Mark’s authority cracked.
He lunged toward Alana’s brooch.
Alana stepped away.
Outside, another vehicle door closed.
Not police.
Not yet.
Daniel Cross entered carrying a locked legal case.
Behind him walked a private forensic investigator Vivian had hired before her death.
Mark’s grip tightened around the bat.
Daniel looked at Alana’s bandaged arm.
Then at the recording phones.

“The protocol has been confirmed.”
👉 Vivian’s attorney had arrived to expose the coercion—but Mark still believed one forged document could give him control.
