Chapter 5 - The Decoy Transfer

Yasmin thrust the signed pages toward Daniel.

“She signed willingly.”

Alana almost laughed.

Her arm throbbed too badly.

Daniel examined the embossed seal.

Under the foyer light, it shifted from silver to deep blue.

A forensic marker.

The document had never been a valid transfer.

It was an evidentiary instrument created under Vivian’s estate protocol.

Mark looked at Alana.

“You tricked us.”

“You struck me.”

“You planned this.”

“I prepared for you.”

Yasmin’s confidence faltered.

She searched the pages for legal language she understood.

“Her signature still proves consent.”

Daniel shook his head.

“The document states, in encrypted registration, that any signature obtained while the emergency protocol is active is presumed coerced and triggers automatic suspension of all family distributions.”

Yasmin’s face drained.

“What distributions?”

“Your residence allowance, investment payments, vehicle leases, household payroll, and discretionary trust access.”

Mark stepped forward.

“You cannot freeze my inheritance.”

Daniel opened the case.

“Your mother already did.”

Vivian’s will contained a morality clause.

Any beneficiary who threatened, harmed, or defrauded Alana in pursuit of the controlling shares would lose access pending investigation.

Mark looked toward the baseball bat.

The evidence was visible in his hand.

He released it.

The bat struck the marble floor.

Gillian flinched.

Yasmin turned on Alana.

“You arranged for us to lose everything.”

“No,” Alana said. “Grandmother arranged for you to reveal yourselves.”

Mark’s phone began ringing.

Then Yasmin’s.

Then Gillian’s.

Bank managers.

Trust administrators.

Security directors.

Every call carried the same news.

Their financial access had been suspended.

Mark moved toward the black tablet.

The forensic investigator blocked him.

“You should not touch transmitted evidence.”

Mark’s breathing became heavy.

“I am still head of this family.”

Daniel looked at him.

“No. You were never head of Vivian’s company.”

Alana picked up the burgundy folder.

Inside was the real letter her grandmother had written.

It began with one sentence:

Alana, the first person who attacks you will not necessarily be the person who designed the attack.

Alana looked past Mark.

Toward Yasmin.

Yasmin’s eyes shifted away.

👉 Mark had swung the bat—but Vivian’s letter suggested someone else had orchestrated the entire conspiracy.
