Chapter 6 - The Woman Behind Mark

Yasmin had spent twenty-seven years controlling Mark without appearing to control him.

She praised his strength.

She encouraged his temper.

She framed every disagreement as disrespect.

When Mark acted cruelly, Yasmin stood behind him and called it protection.

Vivian had seen it.

Mark had not.

After the investigators secured the foyer, Alana asked to hear the hidden-camera audio from earlier that morning.

The brooch had activated thirty minutes before the attack.

It captured Yasmin arranging the papers.

Gillian asked whether Mark would really use the bat.

Yasmin replied, “He only needs to frighten her.”

Then Mark entered.

“I won’t hit her unless she resists.”

Yasmin’s voice remained calm.

“She will resist.”

“Her arm is already injured.”

“That should make the decision easier.”

Alana listened with her eyes closed.

Gillian began crying quietly.

“You knew he might hit her,” she said.

Yasmin turned on her.

“You held the phone.”

“You told me it was evidence that Alana was unstable.”

“It would have been if you had followed instructions.”

Mark stared at his wife.

“You set me up.”

Yasmin laughed bitterly.

“I gave you a bat. You chose how to use it.”

The investigators separated them.

Alana asked Yasmin directly whether she had caused the hallway fire.

Yasmin denied it.

The brooch captured a small reaction.

A delayed blink.

A tightening hand.

Not proof.

But fear.

Daniel revealed that Vivian’s private investigator had found payments from Yasmin’s personal account to a former security technician.

The technician had worked at the mansion the week before the fire.

Mark’s anger changed direction.

“You tried to kill my daughter?”

“I tried to scare her into leaving.”

Alana went cold.

The foyer seemed to tilt.

“You locked my bedroom door.”

“I did not know the fire would spread.”

Mark stared at Yasmin as though meeting her for the first time.

“You told me it was bad wiring.”

“You wanted the shares.”

“I wanted control of the company. Not her death.”

Alana looked at both of them.

The distinction offered no comfort.

Before the police arrived, the investigator received another report.

The same security technician had also accessed the staircase camera the night Alana fell.

Yasmin had not merely watched Mark assault Alana.

She had been escalating the danger for weeks.

👉 Yasmin finally admitted she had planned the “accidents”—but claimed Vivian herself had given her a reason to fear Alana.
