Chapter 13 - MY MOTHER’S VOICE

Ashbourne scheduled the confession inside a live-streamed family hearing.

Linda would read a prepared statement claiming she knowingly transferred Rachel, forged the house documents, and helped stage Thomas’s death.

In exchange, Continuity promised to protect Laura.

Laura refused the bargain.

For the first time, both sisters spoke publicly together.

Linda described sedation, memory gaps, and years of fear.

Laura described impersonation and coerced signatures.

They did not claim innocence for every silence.

Linda admitted ignoring warnings.

Laura admitted signing documents for money during periods of relative freedom.

Complex truth survived better than a perfect victim story.

Then I testified about the garage.

My father’s fist.

My mother frozen behind him.

The phone.

The upload.

The knocks.

Richard’s attorney asked why I recorded instead of helping Linda earlier.

“Because I had spent my life learning that accusations without evidence became reasons to punish me.”

The jury heard the full video.

Not the edit.

The court convicted Richard of assault, attempted murder, fraud, coercive control, identity crimes, and conspiracy.

Vanessa, Michael, Samuel Vale, and multiple Continuity operators received varied convictions.

Claire and Laura received consideration for coercion and cooperation.

Thomas and Grandma faced charges as founders.

No late whistleblowing erased their design.

Eleanor Ashbourne remained abroad.

Then Linda made one decision.

She transferred the house into an independent survivor trust.

Not to me.

Not Rachel.

Not Laura.

No daughter would be forced to carry the property that had trapped us.

The garage became an evidence center.

Then workers found another phone sealed inside the pickup’s engine compartment.

It contained a video dated tomorrow.

Richard standing in the garage.

Free.

Older.
