Chapter 9 - MICHAEL

Michael Miller grew up inside a military academy funded by Thomas.
Richard visited him privately.
Thomas paid tuition.
Both men denied the other’s influence.
Michael learned he would inherit Miller Construction if the daughters preserved the assets long enough.
He viewed Vanessa, Rachel, Claire, and me as temporary custodians.
The family’s sexism was written into legal code.
Federal agents found him at a private airfield preparing to leave the country.
He carried company passwords, trust documents, and a current photograph of Linda’s house.
Michael claimed he wanted no part of the family.
The plane tickets and accounts said otherwise.
He had already transferred eight million dollars.
He called it his inheritance.
Prosecutors called it theft.
Then Michael revealed Richard’s hidden archive beneath the garage.
A steel compartment under the concrete floor.
Police broke through.
Inside were recordings, forged documents, sedatives, spare phones, and a sealed evidence box labeled REBECCA.
The box contained hair, blood samples, copies of my signatures, and psychological reports dating back to childhood.
Richard had been preparing to impersonate or institutionalize me for years.
One report recommended “maternal separation after resistance escalation.”
The date matched the year I left for college.
He did not merely react to my investigation.
He designed my dependence.
Then the archive contained a current death certificate.
Rebecca Miller.
Cause: suicide.

Date: tomorrow.
