Chapter 4 - THOMAS’S CHOICE

Thomas admitted taking Rachel from the hospital.
Richard had ordered the transfer.
Thomas believed he was saving the baby from a violent son.
He placed her with a trusted family temporarily.
Then federal investigators warned him Richard was searching.
Thomas moved Rachel repeatedly.
Protection became a childhood without a stable name.
Rachel grew up believing Linda chose to keep me and give her away.
Thomas never corrected the story fully because he feared she would return.
He decided which truth she could carry.
Another man calling control protection.
Rachel refused to meet us.
She sent evidence instead.
Photographs of Richard visiting her school.
Letters from Vanessa.
Trust documents showing Thomas used Rachel’s identity to hide company shares while in witness protection.
He protected her.
He also used her.
Victim and instrument.
Both.
Thomas said the hidden shares kept Richard from controlling the entire company.
Rachel said they made her a target.
The argument could not be solved by motive.
Only accountability.
Then Vanessa surrendered to police.
She claimed Richard forced her into the house-transfer scheme by threatening Rachel.
But her messages showed she expected millions.
Fear and greed worked together.
Vanessa revealed Richard’s next plan.
Once Linda signed away the house, he would stage a garage accident.
Carbon monoxide.
Three victims.
Linda.
Me.
Thomas, if he appeared.
Vanessa would inherit.
The black pickup had already been modified to leak exhaust into the closed garage.
The knocks interrupted the setup.
Then forensic technicians found the garage door’s automatic system had been remotely locked.
Someone else controlled it.
A user named L. MILLER.
Linda’s phone contained the app.
