Chapter 7 - Storming Warehouse Nine

The massive steel structure of Warehouse Nine loomed high.

Giant ocean shipping containers stacked along the muddy docks.

Cold Atlantic waves crashed violently against the wooden piers.

I parked my vehicle behind a stack rust containers.

I checked the magazine clip of my duty weapon.

Fifteen rounds of nine millimeter ammunition rested inside chamber.

I pulled Vance's revolver from my pocket as backup.

I stepped out into the pouring, freezing night rain.

I moved quietly along the perimeter fence wire boundary.

A small side entrance door sat slightly ajar ahead.

I slipped through the opening into the dark interior.

The warehouse smelled of salt water, diesel, and rust.

Heavy machinery hummed softly in the cavernous main hall.

Two armed private mercenaries walked the catwalk on patrol.

They carried automatic submachine guns over their black jackets.

I stayed in the deep shadows beneath metal stairs.

I waited for the lead guard to walk past.

I stepped out silently behind him with combat speed.

I wrapped my arm around his throat in hold.

I cut off his air supply until he went.

I lowered his body quietly onto the wooden pallets.

I took his electronic security keycard from his belt.

I dragged his unconscious body behind large wooden crates.

The second guard turned around at the catwalk end.

He shined his heavy flashlight beam down the aisle.

"Hey, Carl, did you check the cellar door?"

I pressed my back flat against a steel beam.

I held my breath, waiting for him to approach.

His footsteps clattered loudly on the metal catwalk steps.

He walked down the stairs toward my dark position.

As he passed my beam, I struck his neck.

The heavy strike knocked him unconscious onto concrete floor.

I snatched his tactical radio before it hit ground.

I scanned the warehouse floor for the cellar entrance.

Near the back wall sat a heavy steel door.

Red electronic lights glowed on the digital keycard scanner.

I walked over, swiping the captured guard's keycard.

The electronic lock chimed green with a heavy hiss.

The thick steel vault door unlocked and swung open.

A flight of concrete stairs descended into dark cellar.

Muffled groans echoed from the bottom of stairs.

My heart leaped into my throat as I recognized.

"Clara?" I called out softly into dark stairwell.
