Chapter 12 - The Collapse of Victoria

Federal agents dragged Daniel Reed into an armored transport.
The heavy steel doors slammed shut, locking him inside.
I stood on the windy airfield, my hands shaking.
General Vance walked beside me, his face filled concern.
"Commander, we will interrogate Reed at federal headquarters."
"We will find out everything he knows about past."
We flew back to Washington D.C. on Blackhawk.
Two hours later, we arrived at central FBI facility.
Victoria and Daniel were held in separate interrogation rooms.
I stood behind the two-way glass window watching Victoria.
She sat in a cold metal chair, hands cuffed.
An FBI agent placed a file on table before her.
"Mrs. Bennett, Daniel Reed just gave a statement."
The agent said, lying strategically to break her resolve.
"He claimed you ordered the murder of Sarah Bennett."
Victoria's head snapped up, her eyes bulging wide.
"He is lying! Daniel was the one who bought!"
Victoria shrieked frantically, falling right into the trap.
"Daniel supplied the chemical compound eight years ago!"
"He said no autopsy would ever detect that substance!"
Behind the glass, tears streamed down my face silently.
My evil stepmother had murdered my mother eight years.
Then she poisoned my father three years ago today.
She was a cold, serial family killer driven greed.
She systematically eliminated my parents to claim our wealth.
And she tried to destroy me to hide evidence.
I pressed my hand against the cold two-way glass.
The rage inside my heart burned brighter than fire.
"She will never leave prison alive, General," I whispered.
General Vance stood beside me, nodding his head solemnly.
"The District Attorney is filing two counts capital murder."
"She faces the death penalty under state criminal laws."
Justice was finally coming for the woman who destroyed.
