"Who was the buyer, General?" I asked quietly.

On his left wrist was a distinct trident tattoo.
My blood ran cold as I recognized the emblem.
It was Captain Daniel Reed, my former team second-in-command.
Daniel was the soldier I rescued from the burning bunker.
The same rescue mission where I received my chest scar.
I took a fragment to the chest saving his life.
And he was the traitor selling intelligence to enemies.
"Daniel Reed..." I whispered, my voice trembling slightly.
"He was working with Victoria the entire time, Commander."
General Vance explained, tapping the tablet screen again.
"Victoria provided the local safe house addresses in town."
"Daniel provided the encrypted military access codes to her."
"They split the profits from the offshore weapon sales."
I gripped the edge of the wooden table tightly.
The betrayal cut deeper than any physical combat wound.
I nearly died saving Daniel's life in Red Sea.
And he repaid my sacrifice by destroying my family.
"Where is Daniel Reed right now?" I asked sternly.
"Federal agents tracked him to an airfield in Virginia."
Colonel Miller reported, checking his encrypted military watch.
"He is attempting to board a private charter plane."
"Our tactical team is moving to intercept him now."
Suddenly, General Vance's satellite phone began chiming loudly.
