Three years ago, my father passed away from illness.
He left a ten-million-dollar real estate trust to me.
I was deployed overseas on a top-secret counterterrorism mission.
Victoria was my stepmother, greedy and extremely manipulative always.
She forged my death certificate while I was overseas.
She claimed I died in a civilian accident in Europe.
She transferred the entire trust fund to her accounts.
When I returned home alive, she panicked very deeply.
She launched a public slander campaign to destroy me.
She paid local newspapers to call me a fake soldier.
She claimed I was an impostor impersonating her stepdaughter.
She filed court papers to freeze my bank accounts.
She wanted to lock me away in a mental facility.
Now, standing in court, her lies were completely exposed.
Colonel Miller stepped forward, carrying a thick leather briefcase.
He set the briefcase onto the wooden prosecution table.
He unlatched the silver metal locks with sharp clicks.
He pulled out a heavy folder stamped with red letters.
The big crimson stamp read TOP SECRET across cover.
"Your Honor, we have certified military personnel records here."
Colonel Miller announced firmly to the listening court judge.
"Commander Bennett served ten years in Special Operations command."
"She received the Distinguished Service Cross for heroic bravery."
"She sustained her chest injuries while rescuing trapped soldiers."
"The enemy attack occurred during the Red Sea incident."
Spectators in the gallery began whispering loudly with excitement.
Reporters frantically typed notes on their digital tablet screens.
Victoria gripped the edge of her table to stay standing.
Her eyes darted around the room for an escape route.
"That folder is fabricated!" Victoria screamed in sheer desperation.
"They are helping her steal my late husband's estate!"
Judge Harrison glared down at Victoria with pure disgust.
"One more outburst, Mrs. Bennett, and you enter custody."
