Chapter 4 - The Unshakable Officer

Colonel Miller walked up the steps to the bench.

He handed the thick classified folder to Judge Harrison.

The judge opened the folder and read the papers.

His eyes widened as he scanned the official documents.

He looked at the official seals from Washington D.C.

He read the medical reports signed by military surgeons.

The medical reports detailed my exact chest wound history.

They confirmed the injury occurred during active combat duty.

Judge Harrison looked up from papers, staring at Victoria.

His expression was cold, stern, and utterly terrifying now.

"Mrs. Bennett, you submitted sworn affidavits to this court."

"You swore under oath that Commander Bennett never enlisted."

Victoria swallowed hard, adjusting her beige blazer collar again.

"I... I was misinformed by her old friends, Judge!"

Victoria stammered out, trying to pivot her story.

"I truly believed she was lying about her past!"

"You lied to this court to steal an estate!"

My attorney stood up, resting his hands on table.

"Your Honor, we request an immediate arrest warrant today."

"Mrs. Bennett committed perjury, identity theft, and grand fraud."

General Vance stepped closer to the defense table area.

He looked down at Victoria with cold, military authority.

"There is a second matter, Your Honor," Vance said.

"The Department of Defense has opened a federal investigation."

"Mrs. Bennett did not just steal civilian trust funds."

"She accessed classified military logistics files from her husband."

The courtroom went completely dead silent once again tonight.

Victoria's lawyer took three fast steps away from her.

He gathered his papers, putting them into his briefcase.

"I am withdrawing as defense counsel immediately, Your Honor."

The lawyer stated, refusing to represent a federal traitor.

Victoria looked at her departing lawyer in total shock.

"You cannot leave me!" Victoria shrieked at lawyer.

"I paid you fifty thousand dollars to represent me!"

The lawyer ignored her and walked out of court.
