Chapter 12 - Margaret’s Last Night

The footage came from a kitchen camera Linda thought had been erased.

My goal was to identify who poisoned Margaret.

Margaret sat at a table.

Linda entered with tea.

Dr. Cole arrived ten minutes later.

They argued.

Margaret said:

“You used Michael’s death to build this.”

Linda said:

“You signed the trust.”

Margaret answered:

“I signed before I knew what you planned.”

Then Dr. Cole opened a medication case.

Margaret stood.

“You’re both insane.”

Linda blocked the door.

But the video did not show Linda putting medication in the tea.

Nathan did.

He crushed tablets into the cup while Margaret faced away.

Linda saw him.

She did nothing.

That distinction mattered.

Nathan administered the poison.

Linda knowingly allowed it.

Then Margaret became dizzy.

Nathan said:

“The dosage works.”

First trial.

There it was.

Margaret was not poisoned because of a personal feud.

She was used to calculate dosage.

The first human trial.

Then Linda said something that changed the timeline.

“An adult isn’t the same as Noah.”

Noah was not yet born.

The footage timestamp was seven months before his birth.

Linda already knew his name.

I had not chosen Noah’s name until the hospital.

At least, I thought I hadn’t.

Ryan stared at me.

“We didn’t.”

Then he remembered.

His father Thomas had once said if Ryan ever had a son, he wanted the name Noah.

Linda had chosen it years earlier.

The baby’s identity had been planned before conception.

Then another figure entered the kitchen.

Thomas Carter.

Ryan’s supposedly dead father.

Alive.

The video timestamp was three years after his reported death.

Ryan stood so fast his chair fell.

“My dad is alive.”

Thomas looked older but unmistakable.

He told Linda:

“You’re going too far.”

She answered:

“You started this.”

I thought Linda and Nathan created the trust scheme—but Thomas’s appearance showed Ryan’s father had been involved before either of them admitted.

The next file revealed Thomas Carter was the legal trustee who had authorized every payment.
