Chapter 13 - Robert’s Collapse
Robert dropped the bronze award.
It struck the carpet with a heavy thud.
He stared at Diane.
“You killed my son.”
Diane stepped backward.
“It was not supposed to happen.”
Claire’s eyes burned.
“That does not make him less dead.”
Robert moved toward Diane, but Claire blocked him.
“Dad.”
“She used me.”
“Yes.”
“She used my signature.”
“Yes.”
“She killed Logan.”
Claire held his shoulders.
“And if you touch her, she will use that too.”
Robert’s face collapsed.
For years, he had mistaken dependence for loyalty.
He had ignored Claire’s warnings.
He had allowed Jason into Logan’s office.
He had signed documents because facing the truth felt harder than trusting Diane.
Now every cowardly decision stood before him.
Robert looked at Claire.
“I failed both of you.”
Claire did not comfort him.
Not yet.
“Then help us finish this.”
Robert nodded through tears.
He opened the bronze award.
A hidden compartment inside contained a flash drive.
Logan had placed it there before his death.
Robert had never known.
