Chapter 11 - The Fake Court Order

Derek stood on Anne’s porch with Mason beside him.
He held up a document.
“Emergency custody order.”
Rebecca remained inside with Lily.
Claire stepped onto the porch and requested a copy.
Derek refused.
“You can read it from there.”
Claire called the court clerk.
No order had been issued.
The hearing had not occurred.
“This document is fraudulent,” she said.
Derek’s confidence flickered.
Mason stepped closer.
“We’re taking the child.”
Rebecca appeared behind the locked storm door.
“No, you’re not.”
Derek raised the paper toward the glass.
“The judge signed it.”
Claire examined the signature.
It belonged to Judge Helen Warner.
But the judge had retired two years earlier.
Rebecca looked at Mason.
“You printed a fake order.”
Mason smirked.
“Prove it.”
Claire held up her phone.
“The clerk is listening.”
Mason’s expression changed.
Derek turned on him.
“You said it was current.”
“You gave me the template.”
Their argument began immediately.
Rebecca watched the alliance crack.
Mason had confidence when Derek controlled the narrative.
Now he was being left exposed.
Lily appeared at the hallway corner.
Derek saw her through the glass.
His voice softened.
“Lily, remember the basement.”
The child froze.
Her face emptied.
Rebecca moved between them.
Rachel, who had anticipated the possibility, knelt beside Lily and spoke calmly.
“You are at Aunt Anne’s house. The door is open. Your mother is here.”
Lily began breathing again.
Derek repeated the phrase.
Rebecca opened the interior door but kept the storm door locked.
“Say it again,” she said.
Derek stared at her phone recording.
“You’re twisting this.”
“No. I’m documenting it.”
Neighbors had begun watching.
Mason stepped away.
Derek lowered the forged order.

For the first time, Lily looked directly at him and said, “The basement isn’t here.”
👉 Lily had broken the phrase’s power—but Derek still controlled the hidden camera archive that could expose everyone involved.
