Chapter 16 - The Fourth Name

Owen turned the coin.

Engraved beneath the three SEAL names was a fourth line.

BELLAMY—RAVEN THREE.

Harper’s lips parted.

“They knew my name?”

“They never forgot it.”

Owen explained that every year on the crash anniversary, the survivors met.

They toasted the pilot, the crew, and Major Harper Bellamy.

Reyes kept an empty chair for her.

Another survivor named Clark named his daughter Harper.

The third, Mason, became a trauma surgeon because of the medic who treated him after the rescue.

Harper listened without moving.

Her family had treated the scar as something shameful.

Across the country, three families had built traditions around the woman who carried it.

Owen extended the coin again.

This time Harper accepted it.

Her fingers trembled.

Vanessa watched the gesture with hollow disbelief.

Aunt Carol began crying quietly.

Caleb looked at the scar differently.

Not with fear.

With reverence.

Harper closed her hand around the coin.

“I thought they died later.”

“No.”

Owen’s eyes shone.

“They lived because you went back.”

Harper finally allowed one tear to fall.

Vanessa looked away.

She had demanded Harper cover the scar.

Now no one in the yard could look anywhere else.

Owen asked whether he could contact the survivors.

Harper’s instinct was to refuse.

Attention still felt dangerous.

Then she looked at the coin.

“Yes.”

One word.

But Owen understood what it cost.

👉 Harper agreed to meet the men she saved—but first she had to decide whether Vanessa would remain part of her life.
