Chapter 13 - The Forged Condition
Brandon’s attorney, Claire Bennett, reviewed the papers that evening.
“The blood-descendant condition is not in the trust filed with the county,” she said.
Madeline’s copy contained an extra page.
The font was slightly different.
The witness signature belonged to a notary who had retired before the date listed.
“It’s fabricated,” Claire said.
Brandon leaned back in his chair.
“So she planned to use a fake clause to challenge Luke’s inheritance.”
“More than that. She may have used the same forged clause to control assets after your father died.”
Nicole sat beside Luke’s hospital bed, listening through the speakerphone.
“What happens now?”
“We preserve everything. The recording, the petition, the forged page, Elias’s records, and every witness statement.”
Brandon looked toward Luke, asleep beneath a thin blanket.
“I want her stopped.”
Claire’s tone hardened.
“Then do not warn her.”
But Madeline was already moving.
She called relatives, claiming Nicole had attacked her.
She told family friends Brandon was having a breakdown.
She even contacted the company board, arguing that Brandon was medically unfit to manage the business because of “hereditary instability.”
Her cruelty was no longer controlled.
It was panicked.
The board requested an emergency meeting.
Brandon attended by video from the hospital.
Madeline sat at the head of the conference table.
She spoke for twelve minutes about family reputation.
Then Brandon played the recording of her kicking Luke’s plate.
The room went silent.
Next, Claire displayed the forged trust page.
Madeline’s face changed.
One board member asked, “Did you submit falsified documents to gain control of company assets?”
Madeline stood.
“This is a family matter.”
Claire answered, “It became a criminal matter when you filed the petition.”
