Chapter 13 - The Arrival That Changed The Mission

The security doors opened.
A senior official entered.
Not rushed.
Not nervous.
Confident.
That was worse.
Colonel Willis immediately recognized him.
His posture changed.
The room became tense.
The official looked at Atlas.
Then at me.
“So.”
A pause.
“The command survived.”
I didn’t answer.
Because I knew.
This person knew more than they admitted.
Colonel Willis stepped forward.
“Sir.”
The official raised a hand.
Stopping him.
“I’m not here for explanations.”
He looked at me.
“I’m here because Noah’s final choice was correct.”
My heart tightened.
“Why?”
He looked at Atlas.
“Because Atlas was never protecting a command.”
A pause.
May you like
“He was protecting a person.”
