Chapter 9 - The Decision They Kept From Me

I never expected my name to be the issue.

I came for Atlas.

Not myself.

But that was always the problem.

I spent years protecting others.

And ignored what it cost me.

The woman explained that Noah left instructions.

Not orders.

A request.

A choice.

One that required someone who understood Atlas.

Someone who understood him beyond training.

Beyond commands.

Beyond service.

Colonel Willis looked at me.

“You were involved.”

I shook my head.

“No.”

A pause.

“I was trusted.”

That answer bothered him.

Because trust could not be measured in files.

The woman handed me the sealed folder.

“Open it.”

I looked at the seal.

Then at Atlas.

He watched me.

Waiting.

Just like Noah knew he would.

I broke the seal.
