Chapter 13 - The Door That Changed Everything

The door opened slowly.

Two soldiers entered.

No weapons raised.

No shouting.

Just controlled movement.

Ryan immediately stepped back.

That reaction answered everything.

They knew him.

He knew them.

One soldier looked at Ryan.

“Mr. Carter.”

Ryan swallowed.

“Yes.”

“Come with us.”

Emily looked at me.

I kept my attention on her.

Not him.

That was the difference.

Ryan had spent months making Emily feel powerless.

Now nobody was looking at him as the most important person.

Linda started crying.

Not for Emily.

For herself.

The soldier approached me.

“Colonel, we found what you requested.”

I nodded.

“What?”

He looked at the folder.

“Confirmation.”

Emily looked at me.

“Confirmation of what?”

I didn’t answer.

Because I didn’t know how to say it yet.

Then Ryan spoke.

“Emily…”

She looked at him.

For the first time, he looked afraid of losing her.

Not controlling her.

May you like

Losing her.

📖 Chapter 14 reveals the final piece of evidence and why Emily’s future is no longer controlled by Ryan. 👇
