Chapter 15 - The Baby Moves
During the interviews, Sarah suddenly gripped the sofa.
Frank dropped beside her.
“Pain?”
She breathed slowly.
“The baby moved hard.”
A medical team examined her.
No labor.
No immediate danger.
But stress had elevated her blood pressure.
Doctors recommended observation.
Sarah did not want to leave the house until Leah’s statement was complete.
Frank crouched before her.
“Protecting Leah does not require risking yourself.”
Sarah looked at her sister-in-law.
Leah nodded.
“Go.”
Derek tried to approach.
“I should come with her.”
Sarah’s entire body tightened.
The reaction answered before she could.
Frank looked at her.
“What do you want?”
Not what should happen.
Not what was easiest.
What did she want?
“My father.”
Frank’s eyes filled, though his face remained controlled.
He helped her stand.
