Chapter 22 - Frank Takes the Stand

Derek’s attorney tried to portray Frank as violent.

“You entered wearing a military uniform to intimidate my client.”

“I entered directly from a memorial ceremony.”

“You disconnected his property.”

“I unplugged a game console.”

“You physically restrained him.”

“After he attempted to strike me.”

“You could have left.”

“My pregnant daughter was injured, and a woman was locked behind a door.”

The attorney displayed Frank’s service record.

Decades as a Marine drill instructor.

Combat deployments.

Training in restraint.

“You knew exactly how to overpower him.”

“Yes.”

“Yet you claim you were not angry.”

Frank looked toward Sarah.

“I was furious.”

The attorney smiled.

“Then you admit—”

“Anger is not permission to lose control.”

The courtroom became silent.

Frank continued:

“My job was to stop him from reaching my daughter. Not punish him. Punishment belongs to the court.”

The restraint footage supported him.

No choke.

No strike.

No unnecessary force.

Derek remained on his feet.

Frank’s precision made Derek’s violence look even more reckless.
