Chapter 27 - The Cleaning Cloth

Sarah kept the white cleaning cloth.
Not because it was valuable.
Because beneath it, she had hidden the phone.
That small decision changed the case.
For weeks before Frank arrived, Sarah recorded short incidents.
Derek ordering her to surrender bank cards.
Threatening to take the baby.
Admitting he changed her medical portal password.
She had not yet found courage to send them.
Leah found the phone backup and transmitted the first files.
Sarah believed she had done nothing.
In reality, she had been collecting evidence while terrified.
She placed the cloth inside a shadow box with one line:
Fear did not prevent me from acting. It changed how quietly I had to act.
The frame hung in the foundation’s new family-safety office.
