Frank retired fully from ceremonial Marine duties the following year.
At his final event, Sarah and Grace attended.
He wore the same dark-green uniform.
Afterward, he removed the medals carefully.
Grace reached toward the ribbons.
Frank smiled.
“They belong to stories.”
Sarah asked:
“Which one is your proudest?”
He looked at the decorations earned over decades.
Then at his daughter.
“None of these.”
Sarah’s eyes filled.
Frank continued:
“The day I was proudest, I unplugged a television.”
She laughed through tears.
He had spent a lifetime training Marines to react under pressure.
But protecting Sarah had required something simpler.
