Chapter 26 - Sarah Returns Home
Sarah did not immediately return to the house.
She stayed with Frank until after the baby was born.
Her daughter arrived healthy and loud.
Sarah named her Grace Michael Vance.
Grace for the life Sarah wanted.
Michael for the brother whose legacy Derek tried to steal.
When Sarah finally entered the living room again, the console remained unplugged.
The pizza boxes were gone.
The clothing had been washed or donated.
The black sectional sofa stayed.
Sarah considered replacing it.
Then Grace fell asleep against her there one afternoon.
The sofa became something else.
Not Derek’s throne.
A place where Sarah fed her daughter in sunlight.
She installed new locks.
Changed every password.
Moved the hidden safe.
