Chapter 7 - The Timestamp Evidence

Detective Miller scrolled further down on tablet screen. A detailed system log displayed hardware technical details. The log listed every device connected to camera. "Same tablet," Detective Miller stated in low voice. "Same timestamp recorded during garage lockup tonight." Miller tapped a specific line of code highlighted red. "Device number four seven nine two, registered owner." "Registered to Robert Whitmore's personal mobile phone unit." Detective Miller looked up from screen at Robert. Robert's hand confident reach toward coat pocket stopped. His fingers froze halfway to inner coat pocket. He was about to pull phone to delete app. He realized the data was already on federal servers. His confidence completely, utterly vanished from his face. His pale cheeks turned an ashen gray color. Sweat broke out across his wrinkled forehead skin. I stepped beside Emma's hospital room door protectively. My posture was rigid, tall, and completely unyielding. "You are going away for life, Robert," I said. Robert looked at me with cornered, desperate fury. "You think you won, Ethan?" Robert hissed out. "I transferred the money to offshore accounts yesterday!" "The cash is already converted into untraceable cryptocurrency!" "Even if I go to prison, you get nothing!" A sinister, dark smile returned to his mouth. He believed he had stolen our family's future. He thought money was safely hidden beyond reach. Suddenly, a doctor stepped out from trauma room. Doctor Sarah walked toward us with calm smile. "Ethan, your sister Emma is fully conscious now." "Her body temperature has stabilized safely back normal." "And she gave us something she hid in coat." Doctor Sarah pulled a small USB drive out. "She hid this flash drive inside coat lining." Robert's eyes bulged with pure, absolute terror.
