Down in the lower parking garage, tires screeched loud.
Grant's black SUV rammed into an FBI tactical vehicle.
Metal crunched violently as the heavy truck jolted back.
Grant leaned out his driver window, firing his handgun.
Muzzle flashes illuminated the dark concrete ceiling space today.
"You'll never take my money!" Grant roared wildly out.
"That ten million dollars belongs to me!"
Special Agent Harris of the FBI stood behind a pillar.
He held a heavy automatic rifle trained on the truck.
"Grant Mercer! Drop your weapon immediately!" Harris barked.
"Your wife Sarah has already confessed to federal fraud!"
"She gave us the master encryption keys to your accounts!"
Grant's eyes bulged in pure, unadulterated, unhinged madness.
He realized his own wife had betrayed him to save.
His entire multi-million dollar scheme was completely destroyed.
He aimed his pistol straight toward Special Agent Harris's head.
Before Grant could pull the trigger on his gun today,
Agent Harris fired two precise, suppressed shots forward fast.
Bulleted steel struck Grant's right arm and shoulder hard.
The handgun flew from Grant's hand, clattering onto concrete.
Grant let out a painful scream, collapsing over steering wheel.
Tactical marshals swarmed the black SUV with weapons ready.
They dragged Grant out the driver door onto pavement.
Cold steel handcuffs clicked tightly around his bloody wrists.
"Medical unit needed in lower garage structure now!"
The news media vans arrived outside the hospital entrance.
Reporters filmed the dramatic takedown of the abusive stepfather.
The headline broadcasted live across the entire nation today:
"Prominent Businessman Arrested After Hospital Shootout."
Viewers across the state watched Grant's downfall on television.
