Chapter 14 - Khloe’s Confession
Khloe’s confession lasted four hours.
She admitted altering Elena’s chart.
She forged the consent form.
She prepared the concentrated medication.
She administered it through the epidural line while pretending to flush the tubing.
Her goal was to create fetal distress severe enough to force emergency surgery after Elena had been documented as refusing one.
That contradiction would make Elena appear irrational and negligent.
Khloe believed the hospital would suspend her.
Preston would gain custody.
And Elena’s complaints about the earlier medication error would be dismissed as part of a mental breakdown.
“Why did you want custody shifted to Preston?” the prosecutor asked.
Khloe looked down.
“Because he said Elena was not safe.”
“Did he ask you to create the emergency?”
“No.”
“Did he know you altered the medication?”
“No.”
“What did he know?”
“He knew I changed the chart.”
The room became silent.
Khloe explained that she told Preston she had “cleaned up” Elena’s records so the delivery plan could proceed.
He did not ask what that meant.
He knew Elena had requested a cesarean.
He knew the chart now said she refused.
He knew the consent form had been prepared without her participation.
He accepted all of it.
“Did he know the form was altered?”
“He knew I added language giving him authority if she became difficult.”
“Did he read it?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
Khloe looked toward the camera.
“Because he wanted it to be true.”
That sentence destroyed Preston’s remaining defense.
He had not known about the drug.
But he knew the medical record was false.
He signed because the lie gave him power.
Khloe also admitted she believed Preston would leave Elena after the delivery.
He never explicitly promised.
He allowed her to believe it.
Their hotel night had included kissing but no intercourse.
Preston stopped before it went further.
Khloe interpreted his hesitation as guilt, not rejection.
She became obsessed with proving Elena dangerous.
Khloe pleaded guilty to attempted murder, assault, medical identity theft, and evidence tampering.
She agreed to testify against Preston.
The prosecutor charged him with conspiracy to commit medical fraud, coercive control, falsification of records, reckless endangerment, and obstruction.
Preston lost his medical license immediately.
At his arraignment, he looked toward Elena.
She held Gabriel in the back of the courtroom.
Preston whispered, “I’m sorry.”

He had apologized only after every lie stopped protecting him.
