Chapter 10 - Police Intervention
Footsteps thundered loudly down the hospital corridor.
Four state police troopers rushed around corner.
Special Agent Miller led the team with gun.
"Federal Marshals! Nobody move! Hands in air!"
Agent Miller pointed his weapon at Arthur Vance.
"Arthur Vance and Teresa Vance, stay right there!"
Arthur Vance dropped his leather briefcase onto floor.
The legal papers spilled across the clean tiles.
"Agent Miller, this is a private family dispute!"
Arthur Vance yelled, raising his hands in air.
"We have a warrant signed by Federal Judge!"
Agent Miller announced, holding up official white paper.
"We seized your private law firm an hour ago."
"We recovered the offshore bank transfer encryption keys."
"All thirty million dollars in stolen funds are frozen."
Two troopers grabbed Teresa's arms behind her back.
Cold steel handcuffs clicked tightly around her wrists.
Teresa let out a piercing, blood-curdling shriek.
"Get your hands off me, you filthy peasants!"
"I am Teresa Vance! I own this city!"
Trooper Davis shoved her against the wall hard.
"You are under arrest for attempted capital murder."
"You are also charged with federal wire fraud."
Arthur Vance was forced onto his knees quickly.
Steel cuffs ratcheted shut around his thick wrists.
The high-priced defense attorney wept on floor tiles.
His entire legal career was destroyed in seconds.
I stepped beside Amy, holding her hand tightly.
Agent Miller walked over to us with warm respect.
"Mr. and Mrs. Vance, your baby is safe."
"The hospital lab confirmed the poison is cleared."
"Frederick will make a full, complete recovery soon."
Amy collapsed against my chest, crying tears relief.
"Thank you, Agent Miller!" Amy sobbed out.
Teresa glared at us as troopers dragged her.
"You won't get a single dollar, Amy!"
Teresa roared hysterically down the hospital hallway floor.
"My secret offshore accounts are locked with codes!"
"Without my password, you get nothing at all!"
I looked at her with a calm, triumphant smile.
"I created the encryption algorithm, Teresa," I.
