Chapter 12 - Vanessa’s Father
Thomas Bell stood from the front row.
He was calm, which made Michael step backward.
“Did I invest in a real company?” Thomas asked.
Michael looked around.
“This is not the place.”
Thomas walked toward the altar.
“You made it the place when you tried to marry my daughter.”
Michael’s confidence flickered.
“The company exists.”
“Then you won’t mind an audit.”
Claire’s father watched quietly.
Robert and Thomas had never met.
But they now understood each other immediately.
Both had trusted Michael enough to allow him near their daughters.
Both had been lied to.
Thomas looked at Claire.
“Do you have proof he used Vanessa’s money?”
Claire lifted the envelope slightly.
“I have proof the account receiving it was opened in my name.”
