Chapter 29 - Robert’s Confession

Robert eventually told Claire how long he had known.
She was hurt.
“You should have told me.”
“I was afraid the stress would harm you.”
“Silence also harmed me.”
Robert accepted the truth.
He apologized without defending himself.
Claire understood his fear.
But she also established a boundary.
No one would decide which truths she was strong enough to hear again.
Robert agreed.
He became a steady grandfather to Ethan.
He never spoke badly about Michael in front of the child.
When Ethan was old enough to ask questions, Claire planned to give him age-appropriate truth.
Not secrecy.
Not revenge.
May you like
Truth without cruelty.
That would be the first inheritance she protected for him.
