Chapter 21 - The Investigator Arrives
The private investigator entered through the rear aisle.
Michael recognized him.
Two weeks earlier, the man had photographed him outside the apartment.
Michael had noticed the car but assumed it belonged to a neighbor.
The investigator handed Thomas and Robert identical evidence summaries.
Michael’s best man stepped away from him.
Several guests began asking whether their investments were safe.
The investigator answered none of their questions publicly.
He instructed them to preserve every message, transfer receipt, and contract.
Michael accused Claire of staging a conspiracy.
Robert replied:
“You created the evidence.”
Michael looked toward the parking area.
A bank security officer had arrived with two detectives.
The situation was no longer private.
