Michael sent Claire a letter through his attorney.
He offered to plead guilty to certain charges if she asked prosecutors for leniency.
He claimed he wanted a relationship with Ethan.
Claire read the letter once.
Then she gave it to her attorney.
Michael had not asked how Ethan was doing.
He had not apologized for risking the hospital payment.
He had not acknowledged the stress that triggered labor.
He focused on access.
Reputation.
Sentencing.
Claire refused to negotiate outside formal legal channels.
She did not promise that Michael would never see his son.
