Meredith bought Warren the black steel bracelet ten years earlier.

It had custom forged links.

One edge curved inward.

Nobody else in town owned one like it.

It became Warren's signature.

He never removed it.

Board meetings.

Church.

Christmas.

Even while sleeping.
