Chapter 10 - The Signature
Ryan denied forging anything.
He said Evan Cole prepared every page.
Maya asked where Evan obtained Claire’s signature.
Ryan said he did not know.
Claire did.
Three months earlier, Ryan asked her to sign a family investment acknowledgment.
He said William needed it for tax records.
Claire signed one page and emailed it to him.
The forged property document used the same spacing, ink pattern, and slight break in the final letter.
It was not merely copied.
It appeared to have been digitally lifted from that file.
Claire had preserved the original email.
Maya had already forwarded it to a forensic document examiner.
Ryan called the similarity a coincidence.
The second officer finally spoke.
“You brought movers to a residence using a failed key, a rejected filing, and a letter from someone who admits he is not the owner.”
Ryan snapped:
“This is civil.”
The lead officer replied:
“The ownership dispute may be civil. Attempting to force entry after being told no is not.”
Ryan looked toward the moving truck.
The workers were now filming from a distance.
His public certainty had turned into public humiliation.
He blamed Claire.
“You planned this.”
“Yes,” she said.
