Chapter 18 - Ryan’s Offer
Ryan’s attorney proposed a plea agreement.
He would admit to submitting false property documents and attempting unauthorized entry.
In exchange, several charges would be reduced.
He also offered to reveal who helped create the digital signature.
Claire learned the helper was not Evan.
It was one of Ryan’s former employees, a graphic designer named Luke.
Luke believed he was creating a sample document for a family presentation.
Ryan lied to him too.
The plea prevented Luke from being wrongly accused.
Ryan received probation with strict conditions, financial penalties, community service, and a criminal record that destroyed his credibility in commercial sales.
He also faced civil liability for Claire’s legal costs.
His country-club membership was terminated.
The moving company sued for unpaid fees.
The creditor foreclosed on Ryan’s actual home.
William offered to let Ryan move into his guest room.
Ryan refused.
He blamed their father publicly.
But private messages later showed he still asked William for money.
Claire did not intervene.
