Madison requested protection.
Evan had promised they would leave Kentucky together after the money was moved.
He told her Clara would receive a generous divorce settlement.
Margaret would enter a private care facility.
No one would be harmed.
Madison believed enough of the lie to participate.
Then she found a hidden file on Evan’s laptop.
It contained plans to blame every fraudulent transaction on her consulting company.
Evan had prepared forged messages showing Madison acted alone.
Her brother Nolan would be described as her accomplice.
Evan intended to keep the money and remain legally untouched.
Madison turned over passwords, recordings, and offshore account locations.
She did not become innocent.
But she became useful.
Clara asked her one question.
“When my mother’s name appeared on your phone, why were you terrified?”
Madison lowered her eyes.
“Because Margaret had called me once before.”
