Chapter 6 - The Missing Cabinet

Military investigators accompanied Clara to Margaret’s house.
The hidden cabinet stood open.
Inside, several folders remained untouched.
Property deeds.
Pension records.
Insurance policies.
A sealed letter from Clara’s father.
But one metal box was missing.
Margaret described it as dark gray, roughly the size of a book.
She had never told Evan what it contained.
The basement floor showed fresh scratches leading toward the stairs.
A neighbor’s doorbell camera captured Evan arriving at 7:12 p.m.
He left at 7:46 carrying something beneath his jacket.
Margaret collapsed shortly after eight.
Evan arrived at the restaurant with Madison at 8:30.
The video Clara received began at 9:05.
The timeline was undeniable.
Evan searched the house.
Took the key.
Removed the metal box.
Left Margaret drugged and disoriented.
Then met Madison.
But the box was not visible in the restaurant recording.
Madison claimed she never saw it.
When investigators searched Evan’s car, they found a hospital bracelet with Margaret’s name and date of birth.
