Chapter 9 - Margaret’s Hidden Camera
Margaret had become suspicious weeks earlier.
She noticed drawers left slightly open.
Her medication bottles changed position.
Her laptop battery drained overnight.
She told Clara she was becoming forgetful.
Clara suggested a medical evaluation.
The results showed normal cognition.
Margaret then installed a small motion camera in the basement.
She did not tell anyone.
The camera recorded Evan entering the hidden room.
He searched the cabinet for nearly twenty minutes.
He found the metal box.
When Margaret confronted him, he placed it beneath his coat.
The video then showed Evan guiding her upstairs.
His voice sounded gentle.
“You look tired. Take your evening medication.”
Margaret said the pill looked different.
Evan insisted the pharmacy had changed the manufacturer.
She swallowed it.
Minutes later, she became dizzy.
The recording continued through a camera linked to the hallway.
Evan caught her before she fell.
Then he lowered her to the kitchen floor.
He did not call for help.
He removed her phone and searched it.
