Chapter 20 - Rebecca Testifies
The trial began ten months later.
Rebecca entered the courtroom wearing a navy suit.
The bruises had healed.
The scars remained faintly visible near her cheek.
Trevor watched her from the defense table.
His expression carried the same ownership he displayed in their home.
The prosecutor asked about the assault.
Rebecca described falling while holding Emma.
She repeated Trevor’s words.
“Look what you made me do.”
The courtroom became silent.
She explained the threats, financial theft, kidnapping, insurance plan, embryo fraud, and attempted removal of her children.
Trevor’s attorney attacked her credibility.
“You remained married to him for years.”
“Yes.”
“You defended him to relatives.”
“Yes.”
“You told doctors you fell.”
“Yes.”
“Why should the jury believe you now?”
Rebecca looked at the jurors.
“Because fear explains why victims lie. Evidence shows what he did.”
The prosecution displayed photographs, medical records, recordings, forged documents, and bank transfers.
Danielle testified next.
Then Olivia.
Then Cynthia.
Woman after woman described how Trevor isolated them, blamed them, and used their fear.
Richard testified about finding Rebecca injured.
The defense suggested Richard fabricated the financial evidence to seize Trevor’s company.
