Chapter 21 - Trevor Speaks

Trevor chose to testify against his attorney’s advice.

He presented himself as a stressed businessman betrayed by unstable women.

He claimed Rebecca attacked him.

He claimed Olivia kidnapped Emma independently.

He claimed Danielle invented old abuse for money.

He claimed Marcus Reed stole company funds and died during a confrontation.

The prosecutor approached.

“Does everyone make you hurt them?”

Trevor frowned.

“I did not say that.”

“You said Rebecca provoked you.”

“She knew how to push me.”

“You said Danielle fell.”

“She was careless.”

“You said Marcus attacked you.”

“He threatened my company.”

The prosecutor showed the photograph of Emma’s file.

“Did your two-year-old daughter provoke you into offering her through an illegal adoption network?”

Trevor’s face changed.

“That file is fake.”

His own fingerprints were on it.

His emails confirmed the payment.

The prosecutor played a recording recovered from Olivia’s phone.

Trevor’s voice said:

Once Rebecca is gone, Emma becomes an asset. The baby gives us control of the trust.

The courtroom reacted audibly.

Trevor looked toward Rebecca.

For one second, she saw fear.

Then he became angry.

“You recorded private conversations,” he shouted at Olivia.

The judge ordered him to remain silent.

His performance collapsed.

The jury no longer saw a successful husband accused by bitter women.
