Rounds shifted toward me.

Too late.

I was already moving.

I slid behind the vehicle axle, changed angle, and fired again.

The cutback shooter fell backward behind a boulder.

The ambush lost rhythm.

That was how small battles turned.

Not with speeches.

With one breath.

One trigger press.

One enemy suddenly realizing the prey had teeth.

Miller seized the moment.

“Echo! Move wounded to cover! Suppress left ridge!”

The Marines snapped alive.

Smoke popped.

Rifles answered.

Briggs dragged the wounded Marine by his vest, screaming through fear and muscle.

I covered them.

Shot.

Move.

Breathe.

Shot.
