Chapter 11 - Noah’s Missing Money

Helen displayed bank statements on a ballroom screen.
Three days after Noah’s birth, $4.8 million had moved from a child-beneficiary reserve into Cross Hospitality.
Evelyn had authorized the transfer.
Jason had approved it.
Isabella had never seen the paperwork.
Her signature appeared on every page.
“That isn’t my signature,” she said.
Helen nodded.
“A handwriting specialist agrees.”
Jason looked toward his mother.
“You told me she signed.”
Evelyn’s composure cracked.
“She would have signed eventually.”
Margaret stared at her.
“You stole from a newborn.”
“I protected a family company.”
“No,” Isabella said. “You protected your lifestyle.”
The money had paid company debts, Jason’s yacht lease, Evelyn’s penthouse renovation, and the christening reception itself.
Guests glanced at the chandeliers and champagne towers with visible disgust.
The entire celebration had been financed with stolen money belonging to Noah.
Andrew Keller removed his company pin from his lapel.
“I resign effective immediately.”
Other executives followed.
Jason shouted at them.
“You work for me!”
Helen corrected him.
“They work for a company now controlled by Isabella.”
Hotel security approached Jason.
“You are no longer authorized in executive areas.”
Jason looked around the ballroom he had entered like a king.
Now employees would not meet his eyes.
Then Ramirez received a message.
Police had searched Jason’s office.
